About Us
Que pouvons-nous dire? We love language and talking to people about their customs and cultures.
Hazel Luna founded Open Speak out of an effort to embrace the language learning process. You’re always learning about different pronunciations, cultural dialects, and old phrases that have been lost only to be re-discovered by someone with curious eyes.
Hazel is American-Born, grew up in Nicaragua, where she studied French at the Alliance Française. She volunteered as an ESL tutor for immigrants and from her experience, she discovered how much she loved teaching languages. Her first student for Open Speak is her husband Matthias who taught her how to be patient when you have a stubborn student.

How the Process Works
We want to push for a 20-25 week course depending on holiday stipulations. The idea is that if we can meld the interchanging of cultures as the subject matter it can interest people more than “Donde Esta La Biblioteca.”
So we melded a fun mix of interesting subject matter, practical conversation skills, light corrections, and a hard guide that covers the major phrases and terminology for that week.
